Thomas Budryk, 5th grade Science and Social Studies Teacher
How long have you been working in the district?
I have been teaching in Marlboro for 20 years. I taught third grade for 13 years and have been teaching 5th grade for 7 years.
What is the most fulfilling part of your job?
Watching students discover something new. The looks of wonder and the sense of excitement never gets old. Hearing the student’s reactions during science experiments is something I look forward to.
What is something you like about working here?
My colleagues. We support each other and help each other grow as educators. We are dedicated to what we do and I truly enjoy working with them.

Carrie Schlagler, High School Science Teacher
What is something fun or special that you do with your students?
I try to teach them life lessons through science and the history of science, I plan field trips and engaging, hands-on activities.
What is your favorite quotation and why?
“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you” or “Stronger than any excuse.” Both of these quotes are about grit, resilience, determination, failing/struggling and trying again.
How many years have you been with MCSD?
I have worked here for 13 years. My own 3 children graduated from MHS over the past 3 years. Their teachers were instrumental to their success and continued achievements beyond high school.

Steve Grey, Mathematics Teacher
What are some of your best memories working in Marlboro?
Looking back over my 23 years in Marlboro, I am proud of so many things. My happiest memories would have to be working with my incredible colleagues on special events or experiences to make the student life better in the district.
Such events like Duke Dish, Whose Line is It Anyway?, Faculty Olympics, Staff Dodgeball Tournament, Seniors versus Faculty Volleyball Tournament, etc. These events brought all of us together as colleagues and entertained the students and community while raising funds to help the community at large.
What is your favorite quote?
Not the best grammar but my favorite quote is “The greatest teacher, failure is.” by Master Yoda. In Math, you have to make mistakes and fix them in order to learn.
What do you like about teaching?
I love the improvisation of the job. Each day is completely different. You never know where each day, period, interaction or lesson will take you.
