About the MFA

We Are Dedicated to Serving Our Students and Our Community

We are the Marlboro Faculty Association, a labor union of educators employed by the Marlboro Central School District. Our 197 members are teachers, counselors, and specialists at Marlboro Elementary School, Marlboro Middle School, and Marlboro High School.

We serve the students and families of this district with pride, recognizing that our schools are the heart of our community. As educators, we are stewards of our community’s future, and every day we strive to help each of our students achieve their potential.

Our members are stakeholders who are invested in the future of the Marlboro Central School District and our community. Many of us are coaches and club advisors who spend hours outside of the school day helping our students achieve excellence.

MFA members have deep roots here. We attended these schools and our own children attend them, too. We believe in the quality of the educational experience that we provide for our students.

We Are Professional and Experienced

Marlboro Faculty Association (MFA) members hold advanced professional degrees and have decades of experience. For example, 79 of our most experienced MFA members have more than 1,750 combined years of experience in the Marlboro Central School District.

We consider it a point of pride and a mark of our members’ dedication that many teachers choose to dedicate their careers to the district.

We Are Collaborative and Community-Minded

Our union has a long history of collaborating positively with the district and prioritizing the community’s best interest.

For instance, when the power plant closed in 2011, throwing our district’s budget into chaos, the MFA agreed to take minimal raises to help stabilize the district’s budget and keep as many educators in the schools as possible.

As educators, we know that school is intrinsically linked with the larger community. In 2018 the Community Action Team was officially created, formalizing some of the service initiatives engaged in by MFA members. The CAT runs three programs to serve the community: the 1000 Book Program, the Backpack Program, and the Dukes Fight Together Annual Pink Initiative.
